About this event

Thank you for your interest in the Marianas Yacht Club Youth Summer Sailing 2026!

Join us for a fun and exciting introduction to sailing or a refresher for returning youth sailors. Students will learn boating safety, seamanship, water confidence, and the fundamentals of sailing in a safe and supportive environment.

To better accommodate enrollment and returning sailors this season, Level 1 and Level 2 instruction will be combined within certain sessions. Sailors will continue to be grouped and instructed according to their individual experience and skill level. Our instructors will evaluate sailors throughout the program and may adjust placements as needed to ensure the best learning environment, skill progression, and safety on the water. Each session runs for 2 weeks, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

What Your Sailor Needs

  • A well fitting approved life jacket
  • Water shoes for sailing and rigging boats (closed toe)
  • Slippers or sandals for shore use
  • Sunscreen

  • Completed registration forms and signed waiver

No bare feet are allowed at the Club.

The Optimist Dinghy, also called the “Opti,” is the world’s most popular youth training sailboat and is ideal for beginner sailors ages 8–13.

The Laser 4.7 is designed for sailors transitioning into more advanced single-handed sailing and is widely used in youth sailing programs worldwide.

The Laser Pico is a versatile training boat great for both beginner and intermediate sailors.

  • Must be comfortable in deep ocean water where the bottom is not visible
  • Must be able to pass the swim test on the first day of camp
  • Must wear proper water shoes and a life jacket at all times on the water
